Our Vidyalaya was established in August 1995 under Project Sector Higher Learning Institute of North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology to provide education to the children of NERIST employees. It has on roll, about 500 students on date in Class I to XII. At plus 2 level we offer Science Stream.
I took over the charge of Principal of this Vidyalaya on 06-08-07. I have been assisted by a faculty consisting of 07 PGT’s, 04 TGT’s, 01 PET , 01 Music Tr., 01 Librarian, 01 WET, 01 Drawing Teacher, 06 PRT’s, 01 UDC, 01 LDC, 03 Lab attendants, 02 Group-D employees .
I am extremely happy to say that I have enjoyed the co-operation of all the members of the staff in marching towards the betterment of the Vidyalaya in all areas. During the year 2010-11 five teachers of this Vidyalaya were transferred out and four members were transferred in.
In the year 2010 the results of both class X and XII have been 100%. In class –X, Master Master Sourabh P. Roy and Sapana S Mishra were the toppers, securing CGPA 9.8. In class-XII, Master Pranav Dabral was the topper, securing 88.6%. Our Vidyalaya also achieved highest Performance Index in AISSCE-2010 in KVS Guwahati Region. The Vidyalaya received a certificate of excellence from KVS Head-Quarter Delhi for securing above 70 PI.
Through well planned Teachers’ Development programmes and Student friendly remedial and enrichment activities, we seek to raise the academic standard of the Vidyalaya. The results of Board and Home exams are expected to be still better in the next academic year.
The flair for writing among our students finds expression through Vidyalaya Patrika and wall Magazines. Our students are given maximum opportunity to participate in Maths Olympiad, Science Olympiad, Cyber Olympiad, NTSE and NPT competitions and Thinkquest international competitions. This year we have selected 31 students who have secured 75% and above in Class X exam for participating in KVPY programme and a plan has been chalked out to help these students under the guidance of the faculty of this Vidyalaya.
A Vidyalaya is rated not by its performance in the examination alone. Co-curricular activities, sports and games, arts and crafts, environmental awareness and conservation, value education, creative writing etc. assume importance in the school programme.
Kho-kho teams of boys and girls of our Vidyalaya participated in the Regional level games at Guwahati and girls team achieved IInd position. Miss Khoda Sumpi of class VI was selected for KVS National Sports Meet held at Pune. We celebrated our Annual Sports Day on 22nd December, 2010 in our Vidyalaya premises.
Computer education is imparted to students right from class III. We have a well-equipped computer laboratory 28 computers. LAN and Internet connections have been installed. I extend my sincere thanks to the Director and the authorities of NERIST for providing timely assistance in this regard. Our PGT Computer Science Mr. Sanjeev Bhadauria has made a video based on Rabindranath Tagore’s story to participate Tagore Mahotsava Thinkquest Competition and was stood first in Guwahati Region and has been selected for National level Competition and sent it to Delhi. The students who acted in the movie and our PGT CS were appreciated by the regional level officers. In thinkquest International competition our Vidyalaya has made 10 entries on different global topics for project.
Our students participated in KVS regional level Science Quize competition held at KV Borjhar. Four students of our Vidyalaya were selected for KVS regional level science exhibition held at KV IIT Guwahati.
In our vidyalaya 23 competitions held in our Vidyalaya under CCA activities during the year 2010-11. Maximum students took part in the competitions to grow their personality.
There are 95 scouts, 62 guides, 39 cubs and 27 bulbuls in our Vidyalaya. Our Vidyalaya conducted Pratham and Dwitiya Sopan Testing camps for Scouts and Guides on 25th July, 2009. Eighteen scouts and thirteen guides participated in Pratham Sopan and twelve scouts and seven guides participated in Dwitiya Sopan. Ten scouts and ten guides of our Vidyalaya participated in the Tritiya Sopan Testing Camp conducted at Kendriya Vidyalaya No-2 Itanagar in the month of August-2010. Thinking Day was observed at the Vidyalaya on 22nd February, 2010 and an all faith prayer was conducted to grace the occasion. Five students of our Vidyalaya attended Patrol Leader Training camp held at KV Maligaon in the month of April-2010.
Students of our Vidyalaya participated in several painting and drawing competitions organized by various Govt. and non-Govt organizations in Arunachal Pradesh and brought laurels to the Vidyalaya.
For the first time a Sanskrit Magazine was released on 21-Jan-2011 by our Education officer. This magazine was the combined effort of Mrs. Madhulika Madhu TGT Skt and the students of Class IX.
Students of our Vidyalaya conducted a survey study on the reading habits in English among students of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Non-Kendriya Vidyalayas under the guidance of Mr. K. N. jayachandran. This work was appreciated by our Education Officer.
An Adolescence Education Programme was conducted and a rally was organised to bring awareness about personal hygiene and to develop life skills among our students. The role of library in building up the knowledge among the students needs no mention. During this year, books worth Rs.40,000 have been added in the library and the Vidyalaya receives 19 magazines and 5 newspapers regularly.
I thank the Vidyalaya Management Committee and the Executive Committee for their support and guidance in the development of the Vidyalaya.
I conclude by expressing my gratitude to my staff and students for their co-operation in holding the school flag high.
